Initial attack many times is the first attack on a fire, especially in remote location where ground support might be delayed in reaching. The resources available for first dispatch to a wildfire depends upon the location of the fire, the fuels in the area (vegetation, timber, homes, etc) and current weather conditions. Providing critical initial attack during the first two hours of the first burn is crucial for fire suppression and control.
